At the Community Hospital, O’Leary, with his family by his side on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, of Wilson James Gavin of the Lady Slipper Villa, O’Leary, and formally of North Cape, P.E.I., age 88 years. Dear husband of the late Gertrude (nee McInnis) Gavin. Born on April 18, 1920, he was the son of the late Fred and Annie Bridges Gavin. Dear father to Stafford (Eileen) of North Cape, Barbara (late Willard) Taylor of Moncton, N.B., William (Patsy) of North Cape, Leigh (Rose) of North Cape, Kenneth (Paula) of Christopher’s Cross, Sydney (Donna) of Broderick Road, Tignish. Lovingly remembered by 16 grandchildren as well as 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Inez (late Hubert) Handrahan of Tignish, St. Frances Gavin SSJ of North Bay, Ont., and Emma Kline of Detroit, Michigan. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Helen Gavin and Marguerite Gavin, both of North Cape. He was predeceased by brothers, Atwood, Walter and Edgar (late Reta). Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Visiting hours Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral on Friday morning from St. Simon and St. Jude Church Tignish for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment later in the church cemetery. As an expression of sympathy memorials to the Tignish Fire Dept. or Community Hospital, O’Leary, would be gratefully appreciated.
