Bob Switzer, CBC's beloved "Canadian Gardener" died on Gambier Island amidst the tenderness of family, his flowers and hummingbirds. Bob had planned more world travel adventures with his wife, Joley, of 32 years. His steadfastness, lively conversation and optimism are profoundly missed.
He was the only child of Henry St. John Switzer and Nellie Rosamond (nee Palmer) and baptized Robert Edwin Mason Switzer. He loved the North Shore outdoors especially trout fishing in Mosquito Creek.
His 37 year CBC career produced notable programmes such as Cuisine, The Bob Switzer Show, Adventure BC, the Northerners and The Canadian Gardener and documentaries on Captains Vancouver and Cook.
The celebration of his well-lived, complex life will be held June 2016.
