HUGHES, FLORENCE "FLORRIE" LOUISE
Florence Louise Hughes of Fredericton died peacefully on Tuesday, August 25, 2015. Born in Fredericton on January 23, 1919, she was the younger daughter of Mr. James A Hughes and his wife, Mary Eveleen McMahon.
Florrie received her early education in Fredericton. After graduating from High School, she attended the Fredericton Business College. Her business career started with the New Brunswick Provincial Government followed by 32 years with the Federal Government.
Florrie was very interested in sports – golfing, curling and cross-country skiing. She was also an interested bridge player. She and her sister, Helen, enjoyed many holidays at their cottage on the beautiful Bay of Chaleur.
Florrie was predeceased by her parents, her sister Helen, her three brothers, Charles, Ned and Harold and two nephews, Richard and David. She is survived by three nieces – Barbara Hughes Campbell, Donna Hughes-Fortin and Carol Hughes Zsiros.
She was a regular attendant at St. Dunstan’s Church and a member of the C.W.L.
Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Friday, August 28th, 2015 from 5 to 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Dunstan’s on Saturday, August 29th, 2015 at 2:00 pm with Fr. Shawn Daley as celebrant. A reception will follow in the Monsignor Boyd Family Centre. Interment will take place at a later time in the Hermitage Cemetery.
