With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Anna Wilson, age 86, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015 at the Northside Community Guest Home, North Sydney, where she resided for the last several months.
Born in Englishtown, on Dec. 19, 1928, into a large family of 14 children, Anna was the daughter of the late John A. and Margaret (MacAskill) MacAskill. Anna was active in her community where she operated the Englishtown Community Bingo for a number of years. She loved dancing and enjoyed travelling. She was a member of the United Church.
Anna is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Richard) Nolan, Ingonish, Marlene (Donald) Montgomery, Goose Cove, Emmy Lou Wilson (Dan MacIntyre), Englishtown and her son, Jamie Wilson, Englishtown; her eight grandchildren, Kevin, Charles Nolan, Morgan, Mac & Lindsey Montgomery, Blair Illingsworth, Cole & Brett MacIntyre and her two great-grandchildren, Lillie Anna and Rowan Willow Montgomery. She is also survived by her siblings, Jane MacPherson, Fox Creek, Alta., Tena Munro, North Sydney, Carola (Roddie) MacDonald, North Shore, Emiline (Carl) Campbell, Englishtown, Barb Morrison-Egan, Hunter’s Mountain, Norman (Patsy) MacAskill, California, Kenny (Lillian) MacAskill, Angus (Marion) MacAskill, John Alec (Donelda) MacAskill, all of Englishtown, George (Marguerite) MacAskill, Boularderie and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, James S. Wilson; a daughter, Patricia; grandson, Kenneth Paul Nolan; sisters, Laura and Jessie and brothers, Archie and Allister.
There will be no visitation. A funeral service for Anna will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the Englishtown Community Hall with Rev. H.J. Morris officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
