WATKINS, Marilyn Joyce – age 78, of Wellington, Yarmouth Co., N.S. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mum, Marilyn Joyce Watkins, after a sudden and tragic illness that ended her life way too early in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on August 27, 2015. She is now at peace with the angels and our dad Freddie whom she loved and missed very much. Born in Sydney, N.S. on June 17, 1937 she was the daughter of the late Edward and Hughena (MacLean) MacFadyen and stepfather, Robert K. Smith. Mum love her birds, especially owls, cardinals and hummingbirds, also her beloved cat Maggie. She was a mom to many children over the years whom she babysat. She is survived by her daughters, Dana Lynn Watkins (Sam Wilson), Wellington; Sondra (Brian) Nickerson, Wellington; and grandchildren, Jenna, Jordan and Maria. She left behind many close friends; Dianne, Guytha, Louise, Kathy, Beth, Sherry; cousin, Sheila; Aunt Pat, and especially our Aunt Marie who became very special to her these last few years. Besides her parents and step father she was predeceased by her husband, Augustus “Freddie” Watkins. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A funeral service was held Tuesday September 1, 2015 at 2 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell officiated. Interment was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Mum will be missed and never forgotten especially by Dana and Sondra, Sam, Brian, Jenna, Jordan and Maria. Donations in her honor may be made to the Yarmouth S.P.C.A or the Tri County V.O.N.
