BRIGGS, MARTHA A.
Martha A. Briggs, 84, of Spencer Memorial Home and formerly of McSweeney Avenue, passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, August 31, 2015. Born in Harvey Station, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Marjorie (Matthews) Matchett.
Martha was a retired Ward Aide at The Moncton Hospital with 16 years’ service. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Moncton Legion Branch #6. Her hobbies included bowling, playing darts, cards (cribbage) and socializing with her friends and family.
Martha will be sadly missed by her children, Ronald Rolfe (Angie) of Riverview, Blaine Rolfe (Lisa) of Miramichi, Joan Fearon and Jean Williams (Randy), both of Moncton; grandchildren, Kelly, Kyla, Patrick, Kendra, Derrick, Karl, Chandra, Nathan, Jason, Jeffrey, Tracey, Michael, John and Justin; several great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Blair Matchett (Dot) of Miramichi; sisters, Roma Allison, Christine Whitney, both of Miramichi, Kay Doucet of Saint John, Eva Matchett and Rhoda King, both of Moncton, Elsie MacTavish (Bob) of Berry Mills and Valerie Harvey of Miramichi; several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, James Rolfe and her second husband, Russell Briggs; sisters, Lillian and Maureen; brothers, Sydney, Silas, Delmont and Peter.
Resting at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) with visitation hours on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Service to celebrate Martha’s life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at 1:30 pm, with Pastor Silas Matchett officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment, Steeves Mountain Cemetery.
