Dorothy 'Dot' Hoban

On Aug. 29, 2015 Dorothy 'Dot' Marion Hoban passed away peacefully at home with her loving daughter by her side.
Dorothy was born and lived in Sydney since 1934, she was the daughter of the late Barbara and Walter Kelly. She attended Argyle School, Sydney Academy and worked for many years with London Life Insurance.
She and her husband of 58 years, Howie enjoyed many wonderful trips to see the world with family and friends.
They loved to spend their time working in the yard, coffee with friends and enjoy their Mira cottage, which held so many happy memories.
Dot was an exceptional rug hooker, always ready to help friends at the centre for craft and Design, the Westmount Hooking Group and shared her passion with students at time out. She also volunteered with the old Sydney Society “Tea Ladies”.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Gail (John) Hoar; son, Walter (Michelle); granddaughters, Riley, Keegan, and Maeve; sisters, Helen (late Ronald) MacGillivary, Vivian (Silvano) Maturi and many loving family members.
She was predeceased by her best friend and husband, Howie; brother, Richard; infant sister, Carol.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015 from 12-2 p.m. with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the An Cala Palliative Care Unit, CBRH.
