Leicester Oliver

The death occurred at the age of 92 in Scarborough, Ontario, August 16, 2015, of Leicester Oliver, formerly of Beaverton, Ontario.
Son of the late Alec Oliver and Clara Watkins. Born in Beaverton at the family home on February 26, 1923.
Beloved husband of Agnes Oliver (Ritchie). Father of Randy Oliver, Calgary, Alberta; Brad Oliver (Carla Johnston), DeGros Marsh, P.E.I.; Barry Oliver (Christine Storozuk), Thunder Bay, Ontario; father-in-law of Pam Hinsperger, Waterloo, Ontario. Grandfather of Jillian Klemick (Trevor) and Derek Oliver, Calgary; Cody MacLeod, Cale Oliver and Meris Oliver, P.E.I.; Myles Oliver and Cameron Oliver, Thunder Bay. Great-grandfather of Travis Klemick and Jasper Klemick, Calgary. Survived by sisters-in-law, Dorothy Sewell, June Webster (Leonard) and Iris Gibson and nephew, Gary Oliver, Beaverton, Ontario, and numerous nieces and nephews related trough the Ritchie family of Beaverton, Ontario.
Predeceased by his sister, Margaret Seal, brother, Robin Oliver, and brothers-in-law, Jack Ritchie, Norman Seal, Bill Sewell, Ivan Bagshaw and Murray Gibson.
A veteran of the World War II serving in the Merchant Marine, Les was a longtime summer resident of West Bay, Chandos Lake, near Apsley, Ontario, where he spent many happy hours breaking rocks and turning cottage life into an art form. A collector, an author, an inventor, a philosopher, he had a lifelong passion for knowledge and his curiosity drove him throughout his long productive life. Amongst his collections were native artifacts gathered from the family garden as a preschooler.
Les was a terrific husband, father and friend to all who knew him.
At his request there was no funeral. A memorial service will be held at a future date.
