Passed in: Sydney
Passed on: September 6th, 2015

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Kathleen Ann on Sept. 6, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a four year illness.
Born in Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Theresa (Meany) McPhee.
She was employed as a service delivery agent with Customs and Immigration. Kathy was a generous, caring woman, who displayed a great deal of strength and character throughout her illness. Her family meant everything to her. She loved spending time with family, and made cherished memories watching her daughters walk down the aisle, fishing at the cabin and taking drives with David in their ‘63 Ford Fairlane. She was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays fan, loved playing baseball, bingo and bowling, enjoyed knitting, sewing and baking. Kathy adored her grandchildren. She was especially delighted with the times they shared and watching them grow.
Kathy is survived by her beloved husband and childhood sweetheart, David; daughters, Kim (Greg) MacKinnon; Karrie Boudreau (Clay Bates); sisters, Jeannette MacDonald, Natalie Sampson; brothers, Richard MacPhee, Walter 'Chickie' MacPhee; grandchildren, Amélie and Kian Bates.
Besides her parents, Kathy was predeceased by a stepfather, Angus Rogers and sister, Diane Coadic
Kathy’s family would like say thank you to everyone who provided her with care including VON, palliative care, Dr. Phil Smith and the healthcare staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. We would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to the staff on Unit 4C, in particular the nursing staff, and also her family physician Dr. Glenn Worth. Kathy’s nurses and Dr. Worth went above and beyond on a daily basis in the care they provided for her.
Words cannot express our gratitude for the care and dignity you provided mom in her time of need.
Visitation for Kathleen will be held on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & son Funeral Home, with a celebration of life service to be held in the funeral home chapel at 6 p.m., with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memoriam to Ovarian Cancer Canada, the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice.
