Expédit Joseph Gallant of St. Raphael, died peacefully surrounded by his family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Thursday, September 10, 2015, at the age of 92 years. He was born on July 22, 1923, to his late parents Toussaint and Rose-Marie Gallant. He was the beloved husband of the late Anita Stella (nee Arsenault) Gallant and loving father to Faye, David (Donna), Emily, Christine Boucher, Genny (Dick) Walsh, Claudette (Cécile), Camilla (Earl) Costain, Monique (Blair) Blanchard, Elmer, Georgieanna, Sarah (Stu) Ridler and Basil. Expédit will be forever remembered by his sisters Freda Poirier, Claudia Arsenault and Lucie (Olaf) MacDonald and by numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He was a cherished grandfather to 26 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, wife, he was predeceased by his brother Eloie, sisters Marie, Elva, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Resting at the Evangeline Co-op Funeral Home, Urbainville, until Saturday, Sept. 12, then to Notre Dame du Mont Carmel Church, Mont Carmel, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Visiting hours are on Friday, Sept. 11, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations in Expédit’s memory to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
