It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of beloved husband, father and grandfather Russell Gouthro on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015 at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in North Sydney on June 8, 1928 he was the son of the late Gordon and Eva (Fogerty) Gouthro.
Russell worked as a Coal Miner for 25 years.
Russell leaves behind to mourn his wife and best friend of 65 years; Shirley, daughters, Sharon Dart, Bowmanville, Ont., Susan (Eric) MacNeil, New Glasgow; brother Terry (Lally), Vancouver, George (Marie) Ottawa; grandchildren, Khristain, Jeff, Greg, Chris and Erica as well as nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents Russell was predeceased by sisters, Joan, Louise and Mary-Kay, brother Jimmy, grandson Steven MacNeil and son-in-law Howard Dart.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 16 from 1-3 p.m. at J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, followed by the celebration of his life at 3 p.m., with Fr. James Oliver officiating. Reception to follow at Holy Family Parish Hall, Sydney Mines.
