June Snook

It is with profound sadness that the family of June Elizabeth Snook age 84, of Amherst announce her passing on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan with her family by her side.
Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Mae (MacDonald) Sonier.
June graduated from St. Martha’s School of Nursing, Antigonish, NS in 1953. She spent her entire Nursing Career at Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst retiring in 1982 due to health issues, after 29 years of dedicated service. June took tremendous pride in choosing nursing as her life’s work.
June had a love of crafts, particularly sewing, knitting and crocheting. She was often recruited by her son for his many hair brain schemes, (stage clothes, theatrical props etc.) as well as odd tailoring jobs for friends and neighbours.
She is survived by her loving children Karen Snook (Gary Robbins) of Calgary, AB and Gary Snook of Parts Unknown, brother Reg (Coleen) Sonier of Amherst, four nieces and several cousins.
Besides her parents, June was predeceased by her husband Lawrence (Larry), one sister Margaret Smith and one nephew.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 7 – 9 p.m. in Campbell Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, (902-667-9906)
Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. from Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Amherst with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating.
Interment will follow in the St. Charles – Nativity Cemetery, Amherst.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in June’s memory may be made to the Cumberland Regional Health Care Palliative Care Unit or the Cumberland VON.
Her children would like to thank her immediate family for the time spent with Mom during her hospital stay and especially Doreen Legere for a lifetime of caring friendship and assistance.
