Thomas "Tom" Lezetc
Thomas “Tom” Alphonse Lezetc passed away on September 11, 2015, at the age of 86. Born in Moose Jaw January 28, 1929, he spent some of his childhood in Mortlach, returned to Moose Jaw and began a career with C.P.Rail at the age of 14 as a telegraph boy and retired from the railroad at the age of 63 as the General Yardmaster. Tom was skilled in carpentry; building a home in Moose Jaw, and a cabin at South Lake Village, Buffalo Pound. He was an avid gardener, a dedicated golfer, enjoyed five pin bowling and watching all sports. He was a reader and a constant learner, covering subjects from biographies to WWII history, as well as poetry and always the bible. Tom was community minded. He served on the Board of Directors for Extendicare, was Mayor of South Lake, was very active with the Elks Club, and Hillcrest Golf Club. He was predeceased by his parents Elizabeth and Stephan, his wife Doris, and seven brothers and six sisters. Tom will be missed and remembered by numerous nieces and nephews as well as friends. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Extendicare for their kindness to Tom during his stay there, and to the staff at Pioneer Lodge. Sincerest thanks to the staff at Providence Place where he spent his last year, for their deep sense of concern and compassion, not only to Tom but to the family. A Celebration of Tom’s life will be held at W.J. Jones & Son Chapel on Wednesday September 16, 2015 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Steve Atkins will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Moose Jaw Riverside Mission. In living memory of Tom, a memorial planting will be made by W.J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
