Joan Francis MacDonald- Paquet
Joanie MacDonald- Paquet passed away on Tuesday September 8, 2015 in the arms of her loving husband Kenny & Family. She was the eldest child of Frank and Joan MacDonald of Trenton and celebrated her birthday on February 15 (1953). Joan was raised in Trenton. She graduated from St. Martha’s School of nursing and St. Francis Xavier University with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She began her career with Addiction Services in Pictou and celebrated her retirement with family and friends in April 2015, after 38 years with her second family and often said, “I hope I was able to give them a fraction of what they gave me”.
In 1983 Joanie married her true love Kenny and made their home in Pictou. Joanie was blessed in this life with two amazing children Danielle and Andrew and a faithful golden retriever, Murphy.
Besides her husband, Joanie leaves behind her Mom Joan, a devoted mother and loving Nan to her kids. She is also survived by brothers Murray (Sanja) and adorable niece Alannah, Kevin and sister Pokey.
Fondly referred to as her “Surrogate Son” Sandy Heighton and “Adopted Sister” Sue Boiduk, Joanie has many sisters in law, brothers in law, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew, friends, neighbors and furry friends. A piece of her will forever remain with them.
Joanie was preceded in death by her Dad and Brother Bud, her paternal grandparents Henry and Cecilia MacDonald, and Alexander and Adia MacDonald (Andrews).
Cremation has taken place and a Funeral Mass was held Monday, September 14, 2015 at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church in Pictou where Family and Friends celebrated her life. Interment will be at a later date.
