
Ian Hess
1935-2015
Ian F. Hess, 80, of Riverview, N.B. passed away peacefully on September 13th, 2015 at the Dr. Georges L- Dumont Hospital surrounded by all of his loving family.
Ian was born in Halifax, NS on August 22nd, 1935, the son of the late Ernst A. (born, Switzerland) and Muriel (McLeod) Hess (born, PEI).
Ian attended the Mount Allison Academy, Sackville (parents were living in Europe); later was a Graduate of the International Overseas High School in Rome, Italy. Was a member of the Halifax Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps for a number of years. Ian attended Dalhousie University and then began his Chartered Accounting (CA) program, articling with Price Waterhouse. His CA work included CGTX (a Hawker Siddeley group) in Montreal; Touche Ross, Sydney, N.S. (he opened the office), and Halifax; and VP Finance Mount Allison University (starting in 1977) and then a private accounting practice with offices in Moncton and Sackville.
Ian volunteered for many charities including fundraising for the Kinsmen Club in Montreal, member of the Rotary of Sydney and as the Treasurer for the Canadian Diabetes Association in Moncton. Ian loved sports including curling in numerous clubs in Montreal and Sydney; fly fishing at the camp, loved watching golf, curling, hockey, baseball and football; and he was an avid Blue Jays fan. Ian so loved his family and was so very proud of his children and grandchildren, they all had a very special place in his heart. He will be remembered for his kind and caring ways and would want everyone to remember all of the great times we had together.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 55 years, Patricia E. (Henderson) Hess; daughters, Gillian Hess (Paul) of Amherst, Karin Hess of Riverview; sons, Peter Hess (Tanya) of Sackville and Derek Hess (Sachi) of Calgary; his treasured grandchildren, Sara, Jonathan, Katie, Andrew, Ena and Miwa. He will also be missed by his brothers-in-law, James Henderson (Sharon) of Riverview, Dave Henderson (Barbara) of Ontario also by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother, David Hess (Betty, Burlington, Ont.)
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Mount Allison University Chapel in Sackville on Thursday, September 17th, 2015 at 2:00pm with Rev. John Perkins officiating. Interment will be held in the Sackville Cemetery. A reception will take place following the service.
Donations to The Heart and Stroke, Kidney Research or to the charity of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
