The death occurred July 4, 2015 at Hants Community Hospital Windsor, NS, of Francis Champion Shields of Cheverie, NS. Born March 23, 1941, in Spring Valley, P.E.I., Francis is survived by his wife, Theresa “Terry” (Deveau), stepson Harold (Cissy) Lowe, New Glasgow, NS; grandchildren Christopher and Pamela Allen and great-grandson Keghan, all of NL; siblings Jim (Terri), Pictou, NS; Mary (Allan) Graham, Alberton, P.E.I.; Rita (John) LeDue, Valley, NS, and David, Elderbank, NS. He was predeceased by his parents, Francis “Frank” and Ruby (Champion) Shields and his daughter, Simone Allen. Funeral mass was celebrated July 11 at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Windsor, Fr. John MacPherson officiating. Burial of cremains took place September 4 at the Cheverie United Church Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Bursey leading the graveside service.
