Gilles Chasse

Chasse, Gilles
Gilles Chasse of Moncton passed away suddenly in Shediac Bay on September 9, 2015 at the age of 42.
Son of the late Gilles Chasse. Survived by his mother Theresa Chasse, sister Sarah Chasse (Rob LeBlanc), nephew Brandon Chasse, brother Kent Steeves, girlfriend Zita Dalzell and also his second father, mentor and best friend, Frank (Jolly) Breau. He also will be survived by his sponsor child Hilegerbreal Addisu Alemu.
His friends are too many to mention in this epistle, because he deeply and positively touched the lives of each individual he ever met; and those are many, all wanted to be his friend. He was so well liked. His old friends, new friends and all those he worked for, or with, were influenced and inspired by his positive attitude, zest for life, impeccable work ethic and enormous heart.
A tile setter, carpenter and handy-man by trade, he took such pride in his work that it showed in the quality and beauty of everything he did. What he lacked in height, he more than made up for in every other way. It’s ironic that despite his being so small in stature, everyone, no matter what size or walk of life, looked up to him. Always polite, courteous, considerate of others and their feelings, he helped everyone he ever knew. With enormous energy and the ability to push himself to exceed his limitations, he found time for all of us.
He loved his phone because it allowed him to keep in touch with everyone. It meant a lot to him to know how all were doing, so he could be happy for us when the news was good and be there to help when it was needed. He loved to Google because it allowed him to learn, as he was interested in everything.
He also loved his boat. It was his affirmation to himself on how well he was doing. Starting out with nothing, he certainly had come a long way to better his quality of life. But being who he was, it wasn’t about what he had acquired for himself, but the fact that it allowed him to help others. He loved to treat us all to a boat ride and share with us in his good fortune.
We can never truly lose Gilles because he gave each of us a part of himself that is inside us and that we’ll keep forever. We’re all become better people for knowing him. In view of that, we should celebrate his life instead of mourning his death.
Gilles, you’re in our hearts forever and we all love you.
A celebration of life service will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 10:00am until 12:00pm. Interment will take place in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. Donations in Gilles’ memory may be made to the Moncton SPCA or to World Vision.
Arrangements entrusted to Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton, (506) 852-3530. A book of condolences may be signed at www.fairhavenmemorial.ca
