It is with great sadness, we regret to announce the passing of Flora (MacKinnon) Cann, Flo passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney.
Born in Louisbourg, she was the daughter of the late James H. and Bertha (Gillingham) MacKinnon.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Judy Miller; grandchildren, Tamara (Paul) MacKinnon, Dwight (Deanna) Miller and by her cherished great-grandchildren, Paul Gregory, Alysa, Gracie, Jaime and Jansyn; also by a sister May MacDonald; brother Howard (Ruth) and by numerous nieces, nephews.
Flo was predeceased by her husband, James Robert Cann, son, James Robert Jr., son-in-law Dwight Miller, brothers, Johnnie, Clarence, Tommy and sisters, Christy, Johneva.
Flo devoted her entire life to her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was grandma to many and in her later years, to her extended family at harbourstone.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, from 6-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015, at St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the church foyer. Donations in Flo’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of one’s choice.
