JOHN STRAD
March 27, 1920 - September 15, 2015
Dad passed away quietly and peacefully in Sechelt, BC in his 95th year.
Born into a large family near Grayson, Saskatchewan. He joined the RCAF during the war and eventually was transferred to Richmond, BC, where he later began a career in the helicopter industry.
He moved to the Sunshine Coast in the ‘60s and never failed to tell everyone that it was “the greatest place in the world.”
He lived independently in his Halfmoon Bay home into his 94th year.
Always quick to tell a joke, or tell stories of his many travels and accomplishments, he remained a jokester to the very end.
He will be greatly missed by his family here: Amanda Bond, Andrea Richmond (Bruce), and Brent and Ruth Strad, as well as by his extended family and friends throughout Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC.
Our thanks go to the entire staffs of the third floor of Sechelt Hospital, Totem Lodge and Shorncliffe, and especially to the hands-on crews in those institutions: the caregivers, nurses and service people. They are the ones at the front line of care who deal with extremely difficult situations daily. Our thanks and admiration. You’re the best!
Additionally, a special thanks to all the neighbours, friends and good Samaritans who helped Dad out in small but caring ways: giving him a ride to town when he had his thumb out, bringing over a jar of jam, etc. Thank you.
No service by request.
A full life well lived. A father and friend well loved.
