With deepest sorrow, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Marie Boutilier, age 85. Mom, passed away Friday, Sept. 25, 2015 at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay on Oct. 6, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Molly (Cooper) (Morgan) Martell.
Mom was a devout Catholic with profound faith. She was member of St. Anne’s parish. She travelled many times to the St. Anne De Beaupre Shrine.
She retired in 1994 after working 43 years at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Diane (Dan, deceased) McCormick; sons, Billy, Richard (Arlene) Boutilier; brothers, Sonny, Buddy, Ed and Fred; sisters, Marjorie, Joan, Paddy, Donna; her beloved grandchildren, Marie, Donna, Danette, Laura, Natasha, Justin and families; great-grandchildren, Holly, Daniel, AJ, Ava, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Marie was predeceased by her husband, William in 1994, great-grandson, Paul and brother, Paul.
Mom loved doing crafts and sewing. In her younger years she loved to skate. Mom dearly loved her family and did everything to ensure her loved ones were cared for; she was always compassionate.
Visitation will be held Monday, Sept. 28, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass officiated by Fr. Leo Boone, will be celebrated Tuesday , Sept. 29, 2015 at 10 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay.
Interment will be at the parish cemetery. A reception will follow in the church foyer.
