Cecil Elmer Bowman of Beechy, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on September 30, 2015 at the age of 86.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 43 years, Diane and son Curtis (Corrina) and their children Mackenzie and Rylan; sister Shirley (Pat) Galbraith; sister-in-law Doreen Clark as well as many numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and further relatives in Prince Edward Island.
He was predeceased by his parents Elmer and Annie Bowman; daughter Gail; brothers Norbert and Richard; sisters Laura and Eunice; and father-in-law and mother-in-law Gunnar and Lyla Carlson.
Cecil was born on November 12, 1928 in Lucky Lake, SK. to Elmer and Annie Bowman. The second youngest of six children, he was raised on the family farm southwest of Beechy. He received his education at Collins School until Grade 8 and then started his farming career. He took over the farm with his brother Norbert in 1958 and celebrated the 100th anniversary of the family farm in 2012. Cecil retired in 2014 and moved to Beechy, SK.
Cecil had a love for horses and spent many years training standard bred horses for racing. He was an active life-time member of the Elks and was a board executive for the Beechy Bombers for years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and having neighbors regularly pop over for coffee and visits. Cecil will be missed by all who knew him.
The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2015 at Beechy United Church in Beechy, SK. with Reverend Cindy Gossling officiating. Donations in memory of Cecil may be directed to Beechy Demaine Ambulance Service or Beechy United Church. Interment Beechy Cemetery.
