It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Max Fricker, 88, who passed away on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at Highland Manor in Neil’s Harbour.
Born in Neil’s Harbour on March 27, 1927, Max was the son of the late Walter and Maude (Budge) Fricker of Neil’s Harbour.
In his early years, Dad worked as a fisherman, which was always a passion of his. He also worked for Parks Canada, from where he retired. Dad always enjoyed trout fishing and socializing at the Irving Station, where he greeted everyone with his sense of humour.
He leaves behind to mourn his beloved family, Alan (Pam), Ottawa, Nancy (Brian), Halifax, Sandra (Jimmy), Ingonish, David (Wendy), Ingonish and Rhonda, at home. He will also be sadly missed by his nine grandsons, one granddaughter, one great-granddaughter, and his favourite cats, Chloe and Kitten.
Besides his parents, Max was predeceased by his loving wife, Kaye (Warren) and sisters, Beatrice, Vivian and Clara.
His family would like to thank family, friends, homecare workers, the staff and doctors of Buchanan Memorial Hospital, and special thanks to the staff of Highland Manor, who welcomed him home and cared for him with open arms and hearts.
Visitation for Maxwell Fricker will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, from 7-9 p.m. in St. John’s Anglican Church, Ingonish. A celebration of his life will take place on Thursday, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Carolyn Sharp officiating.
