Mary Cormier

Cormier, Mary Irene
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Irene (Keen) Cormier peacefully at her residence on October 10, 2015. She was born on December 12, 1921 in Marysville, NB to the late James and Kathleen (Dempsey) Keen.
Irene devoted herself to raising her children and was a very doting mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved to cook for her family and her children remember fondly how she made delicious meals and her children never went without, despite being of limited means. She was very free with her smile, but she will always be remembered for her sharp wit, great memory, and the inability for anyone to pull the wool over her eyes; she never forgot anything! In Irene’s later years, she became very active in the community; bowling, playing Bingo, playing cards and travelling with the “3 Amigo’s” throughout North America. Irene was a very charitable person and many charities will miss her wonderful spirit and contributions.
She is survived by her three sons; Billy (Judy), John (Irene) and Charles (Barbara) Jolie, daughter Joan (Bernard) Desmond, best friend and pseudo sister Doreen Elliott, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great great grandchild as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Irene’s family would like to extend heartfelt and sincere thanks to her special caregiver Tammy Sajadi, who went above and beyond for Irene in her final years.
Along with her parents and husband Malcolm Cormier, she is predeceased by her two sisters Margaret O’Donnell and Kathleen Brown, two children Teddy Jolie and Barbara Savoie and sister-in-law Vivian Cormier.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Wednesday, October 14, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. The funeral service will take place Thursday at 10am from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel. To place an online condolence or to sign the guestbook, please visit www.fundyfuneralhome.com
