THOMAS G. MARTIN

June 11, 1932 - September 11, 2015
Dad was born in Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan but spent most of his childhood in the Selkirk area of Manitoba. He was extremely bright and went from Bank of Montreal to Shell Oil, then American Motors until the call of self employment took over. He built houses, had a car dealership, farm, import business, and a family business and cabin in Waterton Lakes National Park. His ultimate and most enjoyable career began in 1979 as a log salvager in Gibsons and lasted 20 years.
He provided our family with a comfortable life filled with travel and opportunities he himself did not have as a child.
In 1956 Dad met and married the love of his life, June Olsen, parting only when Mom predeceased him in 2010 after 54 years together.
Dad excelled as Mom's caregiver and when she passed away he struggled to find meaning without her. The best times for him were spent in the company of his family. He enjoyed incredible relationships with his grandchildren who loved their Papa and visited, emailed, and phoned regularly. He was known as Mr. Fix-it and enjoyed sharing his keen wit and intelligence with all. He will be missed and remembered always by his three children, nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. We are grateful his struggles are over and that he is once again with Mom. There will be no service at Dad's request.
To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.
