Gail Van Snick

VAN SNICK, GAIL ELEANOR
Gail E. Van Snick (O’Neill), age 75 of Halifax passed away October 8, 2015, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, VG Site. Born in Amherst, she was the daughter of the late J. Warren O’Neill and Mona (Duguay) O’Neill.
Gail grew up in Amherst until she left for nursing school in Moncton in 1958. Following graduation she married Gary Van Snick. She nursed in the Moncton Hospital, and raised her family in Riverview. In 1987 she moved to Halifax to work as an administrative assistant/team leader in the Dermatology Department at the VG Hospital where she finished her career.
She was a very active woman her entire life and touched many people through her involvement in the Kinsmen and Kinettes Clubs, Toastmasters, and the Bedford Lawn Bowls Club as well as through her many activities and hobbies over the years that included ceramics, photography, needlepoint, quilting, sailing, traveling, darts, and bowling.
Gail is survived by her sons Darren (Cathie) and their children Dayna and Ian, Riverview, NB; Blaine (Michele), Bedford, NS.
She was predeceased by her brothers John (Jack) O’Neill and Rod O’Neill, and the woman she considered to be her mother, Marie Boomer.
Gail was happiest enjoying time with her friends and family including her pets. She loved her dog Cookie, who passed away a few years ago and since that time has been showering her affection on her two cats, Max and Molly.
There will be a private celebration of Gail’s life held for friends and family.
