The Lord saw she had finished her service to others here on earth, He called Josephine Barron home to the room he has prepared for her in his heavenly house. Josephine passed peacefully to her Lord at the Health Science Center on Wednesday, October 14, 2015. Awaiting her arrival to her heavenly home are her parents William & Mary Cantwell: sister Eliza Molloy; brothers: Leo, Fred, Stephen, Bill, and Christopher. She leaves behind her husband of 55 years, Lawrence, sisters-in- law: Florence Barron, Vonnie Barron, and Theresa Janes (Bill); her extended family Janet, Edward and Martha Nugent as well as a large number of family and friends. They will be saddened by her death, but consoled by the memories of a gentle and kind lady. Josephine will be remembered for her unselfish service to numerous groups, organizations and those most in need of understanding and compassion. She was faithful to her church, giving of her time and talents as a devoted parishioner at Mary Queen of the World Parish; assisting with the goals of St. Vincent de Paul, the Catholics Women's League as well as other groups and organizations. She was a committed member of the Avondale Heritage Society which she cherished with pride. Her surviving family recognize and appreciate the tremendous care afforded to Josephine by the staff of the Hillcrest Retirement Home. She was cared for with love, and respect during her short stay of three months which allowed her to live her last days with dignity. Several family members and dear friends imitated Josephine's kindness and reciprocated those qualities as they cared for her over the past year. We recognize and appreciate their thoughtfulness. Josephine influenced the world, those of us who remain will try to nurture her values to influence all those we meet. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home 73 Commonwealth Ave. Mt. Pearl on Sunday, October 18, 2015 6:00 - 9:00pm and Monday, October 19, 2015 from 10:00am - 9:00pm. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 from Mary Queen of The World Parish at 9:30 am. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. No flowers by request.
