On October 17th, 2015, heaven gained another angel. Margaret Griffiths (nee Newman) passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family at the age of 94. Predeceased by her husband Anthony (1992); her two infant sons Joseph and Patrick; parents Vincent and Mary Jane Newman; brothers Michael, Joseph, Vincent and John; sisters Elizabeth, Angela, Marion, Pauline, and Veronica. Leaving to mourn are her loving children Matilda (Jim), Mary (Herb), Kevin (Helen), Anthony (Violet), Bridget (Ned), Anselm (Ann), Cyril (Donna), Adrian (Breda), Daniel (Matilda), Martin (Priscilla), Ambrose (Mary), Marion (Albert), Alphonsus (Cathy), Pauline (Brian), Linda (Carl), and Wayne (Elsie); as well as her two sisters Imelda (Tom) and Mary (Ben); her sisters-in-law Jose and Marjorie; her 54 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Our mother was known for her generosity and her tremendous faith, which she has passed onto her children. All who knew her loved her; she was the matriarch of our family and we are honored to call her "Mom." Our hearts are broken but we know that she is content and at peace with Daddy in heaven. Visitation will be held at Maher's Funeral Home in Placentia on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and Monday from 2-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa's Church in Ship Harbour.
