She leaves to mourn her loving and devoted husband of 48 years, Alfred Kelly, and her children, Janet (Russell) Spiers, Glenn (Tammie) Kelly and Deanna (Paul) Lander. Edith is predeceased by her parents, Nelson and Grace Peddle and her brother, Elwood. Loving and cherished Nana to her grandchildren, Mallory, Adria, Nathan, Ava, Justin and Ryan who will forever miss her love and attention. Also leaving to mourn her brothers and sisters-in-law whom she loved dearly, Frank (Doris), David (Essie), Calvin (Patricia), Greg (Debbie) and Brenda Peddle. Lifelong friends, Mary and Joe Edwards, and cousins, Tess Thistle and Joan Kramer. Special Aunt Edie to Steven, Neal, Zipporah, Brody, Jessica, Colin, Stephanie, Maria and Jeremy, and their families. Edith was born on August 18, 1941, in Little Harbour East, Placentia Bay. She worked for 15 years at GM AC before opening Kilbride Food Mart with her husband. Edith used her talents in accounting, cooking and baking to express her passion for the business until her retirement in 1995. Edith loved working outside in the garden and going to the cabin. She made dresses, Halloween costumes and curtains. She knit sweaters, quilts and Christmas stockings; crochet baby blankets and Barbie clothes. She decorated birthday cakes and made specialty desserts. She was the go to person for a hat on crazy hat day, ugly Christmas sweaters, urgent clothing alterations and math homework help. She was a generous woman who loved hosting dinners and planning parties, especially the ones where she could dress up like a mummer. For the past 20 years, Edith has been devoted to her grandchildren who were the light of her life, as she was theirs. Arrangements entrusted to Caul's Funeral Home, 84 Lemarchant Road, St. John's. Visitation on Tuesday from 7-9 pm and Wednesday from 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 9:30 am from Corpus Christi Church with cremation to follow. We will remember her laugh, her warmth, her energy, her love for all things spur of the moment, "sure what odds, we'll clean it up after they go". Mom, you will be terribly missed.
