Olman Stewart Mellick
Veteran of World War II
Passed away in his 95th year on October 21, 2015, after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Elmira, P.E.I. on April 23, 1921 the second of six children of Henry and Ethel (Dover) Mellick. Raised in Suffolk, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Dragoons and served 5 years in Europe during World War II. Upon his return he farmed in Suffolk. He married Ethel Youland in 1951 and in 1953 he moved with his wife and daughter to Ottawa where he spent the rest of his working life. He was an active member at the Bethel Church serving once in Africa and twice in Haiti on church projects. After the loss of his beloved wife of 54 years he returned to P.E.I. Until his recent illness he lived happily at Geneva Villa for four years. He travelled extensively with Target Tours which he enjoyed very much. During his last four months he was well cared for at the Garden Home.
He is survived by his daughter Linda Maddison (Greg) and his beloved grandchildren Jessica (Phil) and Keith (Mary Ellen). He was blessed with one great-granddaughter Elise. He was predeceased by his sisters; Ada (George Rattray), Eileen (Stan Fraser) and his brother Lloyd and survived by his sisters Janie (Neil MacDonald), Lois and many nieces and nephews.

Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home for visitation Friday 7-9 p.m. Funeral Saturday, October 24, 2015 from St. Mark's Presbyterian Church (corner of Brackley Point Road and Pine Drive) at 2 p.m. Interment in West Covehead Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation, Pat and The Elephant or to the Garden Home Blanket Warmer Fund.
