Matchett, D. Marie
Marie “Sis” Matchett of Fredericton, NB passed away October 29, 2015 in the arms of her family, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Marie was born at Millville, NB in 1948, a daughter of Marjorie (Gorman) Jewett and the late Irvine Jewett. Marie was a loving wife and mother, as well as an avid curler and fan, girl guide leader, traveler, camper and proud beach bum. Most important to her though, was her four grandchildren. She happily “taxied” them to the rinks, pools, dance studios and school functions as a “super fan”. Her proudest moments were as “Nanny”.
She is survived by her husband Brian C. Matchett; her children, Lisa Brewer (Trent) and Jeff Matchett (Stephanie), both of Fredericton, NB; her grandchildren, Kyle, Davin, Kenzie and Emma; her mother of Fredericton, NB; sisters-in-law, Joan Bird (Ron) and Sharon Jewett; a brother-in-law, Larry Matchett (Nancy) and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her father, Marie was predeceased by her brother, Leroy Jewett.
A private funeral service will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, Nackawic with interment at the Hawkins Corner Cemetery. Friends are welcome to attend a celebration of Marie’s life to be held at the Nackawic Curling Club on Saturday, November 7, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m.
For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Marie, the family has suggested the Hawkins Corner Cemetery of the Canadian Cancer Society.
