Passed peacefully away on the 17th day of October, 2015 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, Mrs. Sarah (Lucy) Hughes of Green Island Book, in her 82nd year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her sons Chesley (Millie) Hughes, and John Jr. (Bonnie) Hughes; daughters Jessie Mahar, Judy (Glenn) Genge, and Wanda (Dion) Hughes; daughter-in-law Lavinia Hughes; her 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; sisters Kizzie (George) Genge, and Ida (Ephriam) Rogers; brother David (Olive) Noseworthy; sister-in-law Stella Noseworthy, as well as 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband John Hughes, son Kevin Hughes, parents William and Jane Noseworthy, brothers Cecil Noseworthy, Clyde (Winnie) Noseworthy, and great-granddaughter Ashtyn Mahar. Visitation took place at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Lower Cove from where the funeral service was held on Monday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Marlene Harvey officiating. Interment followed in the Anglican Cemetery in Green Island Brook. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.
