It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Dwight Finlayson on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Sydney Mines on Oct. 5, 1939, he was the son of the late Murdock and Mary (Miles) Finlayson. He was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Sydney Mines.
Dwight spent 12 years in the Royal Canadian Navy, and worked over 30 years at Marine Atlantic. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 008, Sydney Mines.
He leaves behind his wife, Lorraine (Vickers); sons, Terry and Blair and his granddaughter, Allie.
Besides his parents, Dwight was predeceased by his sister, Pauline.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at Brookside Cemetery a later date, under the direction of J. M. Jobes Funeral Home.
The family wish to express a sincere thank you to the nurses and doctors at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, and the VON.
