It is with sad hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Elsie Levy of Monarch Hall, Riverview, N.B. on Friday, Oct. 30, 2015.
She was born in Sydney, N.S., Jan. 4, 1920, to the late George and Lavina (Frost) Ferguson and was one of 11 children.
She will be forever loved and missed by her daughter, Sharon and husband Jim Grant of Riverview and son-in-law Sid Nicks of Riverview; sister Addie Nesterinko of Ottawa; her grandchildren, Todd, Derrick and Scott Grant and Stacy (Nicks) McKinnon and Mark Nicks; 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first love William Weatherby after only 10 years of marriage, her parents, her beloved daughter Gail Nicks and her seven brothers, David, Phillip, Harold, Fraser, Charlie, Roland and Donnie as well as sisters, Georgie and Alice and her second husband, Carl Levy.
Widowed at such a young age Elsie relied on her many homemaking skills and hard work to lovingly raise and provide for her two daughters. She worked full-time outside the home for the N.S. Public Service, retiring at age 60.
A celebration of Elsie’s life will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015 at 2 p.m. from St. Paul’s United Church, Cleveland Avenue, Riverview with Rev. Steve Berube and Dr. Andy O’Neill officiating. The interment will take place at Hardwood Hill Cemetery, Sydney, N.S.
Donations to Saint Paul’s United Church or a charity of choice would be appreciated.
The family would also like to acknowledge the loving care and support provided to Elsie by the nurses, care givers and other staff of Shannex Monarch Hall.
