Passed on: November 3rd, 2015
It is with great sadness that the family of Mac Clarke announce his passing on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at the age of 87 years. Mac passed away peacefully at his home in Kenny's Pond Residence after a courageous battle with cancer. He has gone to join his beloved wife, Zeta, who predeceased him in 2009. He will be greatly missed by his three sons; Ian (Anne) of Cochrane, Alberta, Wayne (Denise) of St. John's, and David of Oakville, Ontario, his four grandchildren; Christopher, Adam, Rachel, and Samuel, and his brother Clayton (Klara) of Oakville, Ontario, as well as many other relatives and friends. Mac was born in St. John's and grew up in Trinity Bay. Mac and Zeta met and married in Gander where Ian and Wayne were born, then later moved to St. John's where David was born. Mac was a loving husband to Zeta and great father and role model to his sons. He spent his career in Air Traffic Control and retired as Chief Air Traffic Controller at St. John's Airport. He enjoyed family camping trips, when his children were young, and in retirement he and Zeta enjoyed spending winters in Florida. He enjoyed the outdoors, was an avid golfer, and was an exceptionally good fisherman. The family would like to thank the staff and medical personnel at Kenny's Pond Residence for the exceptional care they provided. A celebration of Mac's life will take place in the Chapel at Barrett's Funeral Home at 328 Hamilton Avenue on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
