MARY CATHERINE MACKINNON
The largely attended funeral of the late Mary Catherine (Mam) (Cathie) MacKinnon was held on Oct 22, 2015, in St. Barra Church Christmas Island.
We, the family of the late Mary Catherine "Cathie and /or Mam" wish to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone that expressed their sympathy during the loss of our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt. To Father Joe, Father Hughie and Father Francis, the funeral mass was second to none. The pallbearers, Alex MacKenzie who travelled from Newton Mass, George MacInnis who travelled from Windsor, Ont, and her treasured Grandsons, Brian, John Pius and Bernard MacNeil, and Neil Grant MacKinnon, we thank you. Special thanks to readers Liz nad Tootsie MacNeil and the special intercessions Bernadette Whyte, to the alter servers Neil MacNeil, Dan Dougall MacLennan and Grace. To the choir and the soloist, her nephew, Pat Moore. To her Great Grandchildren, Samantha, Olivia and Calder for bringing up the offertory and Francis MacKinnon for being Eucharistic minister. We must add, "Mam", herself picked all of her choices for everything involved in her final farewell. To everyone who sent food to our homes, sent charitable donations, monetary gifts, mass, enrollment and sympathy cards, for all the emails and phone calls, for all the emails and phone calls, we are forever grateful. Mam loved flowers, and there sure was a lot of them. We thank you for this kind gesture. Thank you to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Christmas Island Fire Department for the lovely lunch during the wake and after the funeral. Thank you to the Cape Breton County Care Service for your kindness shown to Mam. Special thanks to all who were with us during Mam's hospital stay, your meals, Tim Horton treats and company will never be forgotten. Last but not least, we woulds like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Peter Walsh and Danny Campbell and all the staff at Dooley's Funeral Home for your compassion and guidance during our loss, we would never have been able to deal with this without you.
