It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved brother, uncle and friend, Jackie, surrounded by his loving family at the Northside General Hospital on Nov. 11, 2015.
Born Aug. 14, 1950 in Sydney Mines, he was the son of the late Martin and Mildred (Walker) Evans.
Jackie spent 30 years working at several mines including Princess, Lingan and Prince mines, until his retirement. He was an avid reader and could often be found at the wharf doing just that, sometimes even having a cat nap. A big smile, wave and the big toot of his horn as he passed anyone he knew, Jackie will be missed by many.
Jackie is survived by his brothers, William (Violet), Guelph, Ont., Martin (Peggy), Sydney Mines, several nephews, great-nephews, nieces and great-nieces.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Louise (Richard) Morrison.
Visitation for Jackie Evans will be held in the J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, on Friday, Nov. 13th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Carman United Church, Sydney Mines with Rev. Nick Phillips officiating.
