LEONARD, GLORIA MAE BLAKNEY
Gloria Mae Blakney Leonard, 69, of Toronto, ON and formerly of Moncton, passed away at The Humber River Hospital, Toronto, on Sunday, November 8, 2015. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Chambers and Marion (Rogers) Blakney.
Gloria was a teacher, consultant and artist. She was the first civilian recipient of the Air Command Award for her work with Military Family Services. She was a volunteer, always quick to dedicate herself wholly to her community, helping women’s shelters, children’s organizations, and community groups across the country.
Gloria will be sadly missed by her husband of 45 years, Don Leonard of Toronto; daughters, Amy Leonard of Toronto and Emma Fowler of Vancouver, three grandchildren, Mackenzie, Jessica and Nico; and many family and friends who will miss her terribly.
A Service to celebrate Gloria’s life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 10:30 am. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment will be held at Five Points Cemetery at a later date.
