MERZETTI, JO ANNE
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the death of Mary Jo Anne Margaret (Creary) Merzetti of Saint John, NB, wife of the late Robert G. Merzetti. Surrounded by her loving family, Jo Anne passed away at the Loch Lomond Villa on Saturday, November 14, 2015. Jo Anne was the eldest of seven children of the late Edward and Mary Ellen (Trifts) Creary and was born June 17, 1936 in Saint John.
She is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline (Bob) Melles of Hanwell, NB, Jocelyn (Guy) Richard of Quispamsis, and sons Terrance and Timothy, both of Saint John, grandchildren Rylan, Laura and Jillian Melles, Hannah Richard and Abigail Merzetti, great-grandchildren Brianna, Lila, Keira and Jack. She is also survived by a sister, Marilyn (Doug) Donovan, brothers Fred (Susan) Creary, Paul (Beth) Creary, sister-in-law Frances Creary, cousin Margaret (Ivan) Buote and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Jo Anne was predeceased by her brothers Peter and George, infant brother Edward and great-granddaughter Peyton Grace.
Jo Anne attended St. Vincent’s Girls High School and graduated from the New Brunswick Teachers’ College in 1956. Jo Anne taught elementary school for many years in the Saint John area and was loved by teachers and students alike.
She was an avid duplicate bridge player and enjoyed knitting and reading, but her greatest pleasure in life came from spending quality time with her children and grandchildren. Jo Anne was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
The family would like to extend sincere thanks to doctors, nurses and staff of 5th and 8th floors of St. Joseph’s Hospital and to Elm House of the Loch Lomond Villa.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424). Following cremation, visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 from 5 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 50 Clarendon St. on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 11:00 am, with a reception to follow. Interment of ashes to take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery following the reception.
Memorial donations would be appreciated to the Loch Lomond Villa Foundation, IWK Health Centre Foundation or to a charity of donor’s choice.
