DOLLARD LUDGER DESMARAIS
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing on November 14, 2015 of Dollard Desmarais at Sechelt Hospital.
Dollard was born in St. Paul, Alberta to Ernest and Aline Desmarais on December 5, 1929. Dollard was predeceased by his parents. He will be greatly missed by his wife and love of many years, Joyce. He leaves to mourn four sisters: Sr. Helene Desmarais sgm of Youville Centre in St. Albert, Alberta, Viviane Vandael of Edmonton, Alberta, Lenore Lozano of California and Denise (Emile) Lefebvre of Kamloops, B.C.; as well as nieces Claudette of Edmonton, Alberta and Michelle of California; and numerous long-time friends.
Dollard was a quiet, private individual but his accomplishments were many. He obtained his BA at the University of Ottawa in 1952, then his MS in Physics and Mathematics at the University of St. Louis Missouri in 1961. Dollard received his BEd from the University of Ottawa in 1962 and in 1967 earned his MSc at the University of Alberta. After completing his impressive education, he spent many years as a Professor of Physics at College St. Jean and the University of Alberta in Edmonton.
Dollard and his wife moved to the Sunshine Coast in the early ‘90s and enjoyed every minute of it since.
He was a very generous benefactor of the Holy Family Church in Sechelt and spent many hours on the Parish Council.
His family and friends wish to thank Dr. S. Reznick and the staff of the Sechelt Hospital for the TLC extended to Dollard during his stay.

A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Church on Saturday, November 21 at 11am. Reception and lunch to follow immediately after. Devlin Funeral Home of Gibsons, BC presiding.
