SMITH, VICTOR GEORGE
1917 - 2015
Victor "Vic" Smith of Moncton passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, November 14, 2015. Born in Toronto, he was the son of the late Thomas and Florence (Taylor) Smith.
Vic had retired from Canfor following 22 years of service, a veteran of WWII having served with the RCAF and the RAF as a Navigator from 1942-1945. He was a former member of the Moncton Golf and Country Club and the Beaver Curling Club. Vic always had a zest for life and loved to spend winters in Florida with his wife Hazel.
Besides his wife Hazel (Miller) Smith, he will be dearly missed by his sons; David (Shirley) and Duncan (Sharon) and Rick (Yvonne), sister, Margaret Noyes, eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, a great-great-granddaughter as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his first wife, Jean, sons; Raymond, Dennis, sisters; Doris, Florence, Lily, Gladys, Edith and Beatrice, brothers; Thomas, Ernest, Reginald, Stanley, David and Gordon.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007) on Monday, November 23, from 6:00 to 8:00pm with a Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 memorial service taking place at 5:45pm. A service celebrating Vic’s life will be held from Cobb’s Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 11 AM with Rev. Basil Lowery officiating. The interment will take place in St. Andrews Cemetery at a later date.
Donations to The Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation or the memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
