HICKS, LOIS ISABEL
Lois I. Hicks, 91, of Moncton, with her loving family at her side, passed away peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit of The Moncton Hospital on Thursday, November 19, 2015. Born in Port Elgin, NB, she was the daughter of the late Charles (CR) and Marie (Blacklock) Oulton.
After graduating high school at age 16, Lois moved to Moncton where she attended Robinson Business School. Lois first worked with Crown Life and then with the Federal Unemployment Insurance Commission, where she met her future husband, Clary Hicks. Lois and Clary were married in 1947. After raising her children, Lois returned to the work world in the 1960’s, working in the office of Dr. Fred Murphy until her retirement in the 1980’s. Lois and her late husband, Clarence, were long time devoted members of Wesley Memorial Church where they developed many life-long friendships. A resident of Camden Court the last few years, Lois enjoyed playing bridge and socializing with her friends.
Lois was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She was a former member of the YWCA Board and the Quilt Fair Committee and after the closing of Wesley, became a member of St. John’s United Church.
Lois will be sadly missed by her daughters, Linda Hicks of Moncton and Cathy Booth (Brian) of Munster, ON; son, David (Yvette) of Fall River, NS. Precious grandchildren, Jody Miles (Leah), Susan Johnson, Patrick Booth, Michael Booth (Stephanie) and Christine Hicks. Cherished great grandchildren, Lily Attis, Everett Booth and Payton Booth. Brother, Robert Oulton of Port Elgin and many much loved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Clarence E. Hicks (2012); sisters, Doris Falconer and Marjorie McLeod.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. A Service of Remembrance will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 11:00 am with The Rev. Aaron Billard officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment to be held at Fernwood Cemetery, Port Elgin, NB.
