Lorraine Cormier, 98, wife of the late Désiré Cormier, passed away on Thursday November 26, 2015 at Foyer St-Antoine where she resided. Born September 19, 1917 in McDougall Settlement, she was the daughter of the late Alphée and Olive (LeBlanc) Fontaine.
Before retiring, Lorraine was employed at the Université de Moncton. She also enjoyed planting African violets, walking and helping others.
She is survived by a daughter, Oliva Bastarache (Clarence) of Bathurst; two grandchildren: Donna Lacenaire (Tony) and Ricky Léger; three great-grandchildren: Justin, Janelle and Joël Lacenaire; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she is also predeceased by a daughter, Lucille Leger (Sylvio); an infant, Edna; her brothers and sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family of 17.
The family will receive condolences at Saint-Antoine L'Ermite Roman Catholic Church, 24 rue de l’Église, Saint-Antoine from where the funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday November 30 at 11 am. Visiting hours Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and Monday from 10 am until time of mass. Interment will be in Notre-Dame. In memory of Lorraine, a contribution to the Foyer St-Antoine or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
