BREEN, DOROTHY
With heavy hearts, the family of Dorothy Breen announces her passing, which occurred at the Loch Lomond Village on Saturday, November 28th, 2015. Dot was born in Saint John on November 7th, 1935; a daughter of the late Roy and Irene (Sherwood) Hanson.
During her working years, Dot worked at Woolco, Zellers, and most recently, RCL Branch 53 – Jarvis Bay Memorial. When she was not working or volunteering, she enjoyed knitting, and entertaining everyone with her quick wit and great sense of humour. Her family was everything to her.
Dot is survived by her son, Russell (Linda) Rooney of Quispamsis, daughters Elizabeth (Mark) Doyle and Brenda (Glenn) Hicks, both of Fairfield; step-children Lisa, Stephen and Robert Breen, grandchildren Christopher, Chad, Trevor, Kelli, Bradley, Andrew, Erin, Ashley, Ryan; great-grandchildren Amelia, Reed, Jack and Alex; sister Leota Frigault, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dot was predeceased by her first husband, Leonard Rooney, second husband, James Breen, son John Rooney, step-son David, and three brothers in infancy.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the exceptional nursing staff at the Loch Lomond Village – Cedar House for their excellent care during Dot’s time at the Village.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424), where the family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. The Royal Canadian Legion will hold a tribute service on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Stella Maris Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 2nd, at 12:00 noon. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
For those who wish, remembrances to the Loch Lomond Village – Cedar House would be appreciated by the family.
