Joyce Emma Berg, age 85, of Swift Current, SK passed away on November 23, 2015 at Cypress Regional Hospital. The Funeral Service was held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 28, 2015 from First United Church, Swift Current, SK with Reverend Annette Taylor officiating. The organist was Patti McCleary. Life Tribute and Special Music was performed by her son Doug Berg and a Life Tribute from the grandchildren was presented by Alycia and Michelle Berg. The Pallbearers were Douglas Berg, Jim Berg, Kelly Berg, Cory Berg, Brian Pederson and Arnold Pederson. Honorary Pallbearer was her grandson Kalan Martinez. The Interment Service took place at Mount Pleasant Burial Park. Joyce is survived by her sister Beatrice Pederson; her children John Douglas Berg; James (Bev) Berg and their family Alycia (Matt) and Cory; Wendy (Mark) Martinez and their family Kalan (Stephenie), Nathan (Nicole) Bracko; Kelly (Jacquie) Berg and their family Chantelle (Arlan) Kopp and Michelle (Tom); great grandchildren Arthur, Isobel, Karri, Oscar, Greta and Violet; nieces and nephews Arnold, Leonard and Brian Pederson, Miriam Herman, Anita Runions, Bernice (Cory) Fodi, Yvonne (Allen) Kurtz, Warren Fifield, Denise (Fred) Chalk, Colin Fifield, Glenda Fifield, Carla Fifield and Kerry (Nee: Wall) Berg. She was predeceased by her parents William Wallace and Magdalina Fifield; her husband Peter Berg; brothers Harold Fifield and Warren Fifield; nephew and niece Virgil Pederson and Hazel Pederson; brothers-in-law Levi Pederson and Abe and Ike (Susan) Berg. Joyce was born on January 19, 1930 in Abbey, SK. She received her formal education at ROE School District #755 southwest of Abbey and then on to Success Business College in Regina. Joyce married Peter Berg on June 29, 1953 in Medicine Hat, AB. She worked for a short time as a stenographer at Swift Current Provincial Court House and then a business startup manager for small appliance repair. She was a member of the Wildlife Federation, Ducks Unlimited, Saskatchewan Rough Riders shareholder, numerous book clubs, and Council of Canadians and Nature Conservancy. Joyce also contributed to Saskatchewan Institute on Community Living, clothing donation, and was the original recycler. She enjoyed artwork that reflected her interest in nature. Joyce's compassion was evidenced in her daily life. One only needed mention or desire and within short order she set a course to design, create and provide. She did not know the word imposition, all was done with full heart and spirit. Joyce was an amazingly talented homemaker, who passionately shared her gifts. Her joys in life were most evident in the time she shared with family and friends and when she was entertaining, gardening, sewing, knitting and crocheting creations for others. Joyce also had an acute ear for music and confidently played numerous self-taught instruments for the joy of others. She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her family and friends.
