It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, son, grandfather and brother, David George Bona age 63, on Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, at the Northside General Hospital following a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Born in North Sydney on March 3, 1952, he was the son of George and Gloria 'Goldie' (Blinkhorn) Bona.
David was a carpenter by trade and a member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local 1588 for over 42 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in North Sydney.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife Colleen (Pero) Bona, his son Geoffrey David Bona (Jenn Campbell), a grandson Dante, Oromocto, N.B., his brothers, Albert Bona, Cape Dauphin, N.S., Terry (Linda) Bona, New Campbellton, N.S., Ronnie (Doris) Bona, Fort McMurray, Alta., his sisters, Julia (Judson) Wall, Northside East Bay, Nancy (Brian) Joseph, North Sydney, currently in India, also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Marek Knott and the nursing staff of 4West of the Northside General Hospital for the care given to David during the past few weeks.
By request there will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 7 at St. Joseph Church with Rev. William Crispo and Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
