
Peggy Aldag
Peggy Aldag, age 102 years of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan died on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at the Shaunavon Hospital and Care Centre following a brief illness. Peggy was born in Ramsjo, Sweden on July 4, 1913. She came to Canada by boat at the age of three years with her parents when they homesteaded north of Shaunavon. She received her education at Thompson Valley School. Peggy married Bill Aldag at Gull Lake, Saskatchewan in 1933 and they were blessed with a son Gerald in 1936. They lived on the Aldag farm until 1939 when they moved to Burdett, Alberta living there until 1941 when they moved to Shaunavon. Peggy clerked two years for Nadler and Sons, starting there in 1942 and then moved to the Shaunavon Department Store and clerked there for fourteen years. In 1961 she started her own store, Peggy’s Sewing Centre which she operated until she sold it in 1976 when her husband Bill got sick. In April 1993 she married Lloyd Older who was a U.S. Gentleman. She was a charter and life member of the Shaunavon Order of the Royal Purple which was organized in 1954. She loved to dance and play cards. Peggy wrote in her history that she loved her family dearly. She was predeceased by her father John Floberg in 1963, her mother Berna Floberg in 1986, her first husband Bill Aldag on April 10, 1978, her second husband Lloyd Older on May 17, 2012, her son Gerry on June 29, 2011, granddaughter Gwen Zankl on December 21, 2009, sisters Lesen Aldag in 1974, Gladys Shulson in 1981, Florence Scribner in 1983 and Hervor Lundberg in 2002, brothers Gordon Floberg in 1999 and Art Floberg in 1999. She is survived by daughter-in-law Barb Aldag of Medicine Hat, Alberta, granddaughter Penny Wickham (Rick) of Shaunavon, grandson Bill Aldag (Michelle) of Swift Current, grandson-in-law Brian Zankl of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, seven great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were held at Salem Lutheran Church in Shaunavon on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Joy Frenette officiating. A family tribute was given by the great-grandchildren. Special music was provided by Conrad Sandberg. Members of the Order of the Royal Purple attended, forming a guard of honour and presenting the Royal Purple Tribute. Interment took place at Hillcrest Cemetery at Shaunavon. Pallbearers were Bill Aldag, Cody Aldag, Rick Wickham, Ryan Wickham, Brian Zankl and BJ Zankl. Binkley’s Funeral Service of Shaunavon (www.Binkleys.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
