It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Olga Wilcox, on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015 at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in New Waterford on March 24, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Dougald and Elizabeth (Fraser) Campbell.
Olga was a homemaker devoted to her family. She was active in her community, volunteering for various organizations. At the time of her death, she was an active member of the ladies auxiliary of New Waterford Hospital for 50+ years. She enjoyed baking, playing bingo and Saturday night card club with her friends.
Olga is survived by daughters, Shirley Aucoin (Ervin MacNeil) and Mary Joe Wilcox; granddaughters, Danielle Aucoin (Sonny Harker) and Mary Wilcox (Andrew Hartigan); brother, Dougald Campbell; sisters, Janie Crowley and Bette Campbell; sisters-in law, Georgina Campbell and Ella Gadd; great-grandchildren, Robyn Aucoin, Riley Clarke and Ella Harker, all of whom were the “light of her life”; numerous nieces and nephews as well as her dear friends, Nellie Hanes and Theresa White.
Besides her parents, Olga was predeceased by her husband, Joe Wilcox; brothers Ewen, John Alex and Hartigan Campbell; sisters, Mary Brewer and Theresa Westhaver and son-in law, Daniel Aucoin.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass to celebrate Olga’s life will take place on Monday, Dec. 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating, followed by a luncheon at the K.O.C. Hall Plummer Avenue. All are welcome.
