James William Fraser - 79, Toney River, passed away surrounded by his family on Dec. 3, 2015, at the Maritime Oddfellows Home, Pictou.

Growing up on the family farm, combined with losing his father at a very young age, James developed a strong work ethic that he carried with him throughout his life.
He took on a larger work load when he began working at Maritime Packers weighing lobsters. In 1963 he started working at the Irish moss plant until he went to work for Northumberland Ferries Ltd. in 1968. He was there 29 years before retiring at the age of 61.
After he retired, he kept busy looking after his garden, volunteering his time in the community and spending time with his family and friends. He was an active member of St David’s Presbyterian Church where he was the clerk of session for 29 years, an elder, and a choir member. James had a love for music and social gatherings where he and Shannon could always be found making their way around the dance floor.
