Carol Spitzer

It is with great sadness that the family of Carol Spitzer announced her passing on November 18, 2015 at the age of 75 years. Mom fought a courageous battle with cancer for the past 18 months. Carol was born November 11, 1940 on the family farm near Neidpath SK, the oldest of 3 children born to Alvin & Alma Krein. Carol attended Luxor School in Neidpath where she met the love of her life, Don Spitzer. They were married on December 20, 1957 and this union was blessed with three children. In the early years of their marriage, they lived in various locations following Don's job with road construction. In 1963 they settled on Don's family farm near Hallonquist. Here is where they raised their family. Carol worked alongside Don farming. Many lifelong friendships were made during this time. Carol was active in the Royal Purple Elks Club in Hodgeville and the Hallonquist 4-H Club, where she served as general leader for a few years. After the kids left home, Don and Carol spent 25 years wintering in Las Vegas. Carol loved playing Bingo - she wore out two vehicles driving around the country playing Bingo! Carol was also an avid lover of garage sales. On Mondays, she would make her list of garage sales for the weekend. I'm sure she knew every back alley in town! She also loved collecting ornaments and antiques. Carol and Don belonged to the Good Sam's R.V. Club in Swift Current. They greatly enjoyed going on these weekend trips across Saskatchewan & Alberta. Carol was predeceased by her parents, Alvin & Alma Krein, and her sister, Peggy Krein. Carol is survived by Don, her loving husband of nearly 58 years; her son Rick (Betty) Spitzer; her daughters, Charlynne (Chris) Salberg and Colleen (Bruce Pristie) Spitzer; her grandchildren, Carly (Dean) Tank, Corey (Dwight) Wenzel and Teagan (Garnet) Gader; and the loves of her life, her 3 great-grandchildren, Jaylynn and Jorie Gader and Owen Tank. Carol is also survived by her brother Robert Krein, his children, Becky and Tyler (Holly), great-nephew Daxton, her niece Wendy (Jeff) Allan and their children, Chad, Justin & Shana. At Carol's request, a private family service was held on December 5th, 2015, followed by a Memorial Tea at St. Olaf's Lutheran Church. In memory of Carol Spitzer, donations will be accepted by Palliser Regional Care Activities Fund or a charity of your choice. Warren's Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
