It is with great sadness that the family of Fraser Clayton MacPherson announce his peaceful passing on Monday, Dec. 7, 2015 at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Sydney, on Oct. 14, 1934, he was the son of the late Roderick and Wilena (Smith) MacPherson. After finishing school, Fraser joined the R.C.A.F. and was stationed in Quebec and Winnipeg. He attended St. Francis Xavier University and after graduation he taught school in North Sydney for many years. Fraser’s hobby was woodworking. You could always find Fraser in the garage working on a project.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Lee (Morrison) MacPherson; his daughter, Miriam (Angus) MacLean and their children Kyle & Alanna, Oshawa, Ont. and his son, Alexander (Layle) MacPherson and their children Taylor & Braedon, Calgary, Alta. Also surviving are his sister, Phyllis (Charles) Mann, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Phemie (Morrison) Menard, North Sydney; brothers-in-law, Gerard (Colette) Morrison, Baddeck, Billy (Tracy) Morrison, Sydney Mines; sisters-in-law, Dora MacPherson, Courtice, Ont., Sheila MacPherson, Halifax, and Jess Grainge, Edmonton, Alta. and many nieces and nephews across Canada and United States.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Sadie Keefe and brothers, Roy, John (Joan), Clifford, Harold, Murdoch (Kaye), Norman (Margaret), Kenneth (Gladys & Daisy), Gordon (Lillian), Donald (Sheila) and Melvin.
The family would like to thank Dr. John Kirkpatrick, Dr. Ron McCormick, VON, palliative care, and the nurses on 4 West of the Northside General Hospital for the care Fraser received.
By request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date with arrangements under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
